March Statistics & Monthly Update

Here’s a look at our March numbers. We saw a dip when compared to February, which is something to expect in the current market. While overall revenue remains lower than in previous years, there have been some improvements.

Our push to rebuild revenue through a stronger YouTube presence and more direct partnerships is working, but it is a slow process. These steps are helping cushion the impact of the wider market slowdown, and we’ll keep leaning into them as we move forward.

We’ll keep monitoring trends closely and stay focused on reaching new audiences, improving visibility, and creating additional income opportunities for everyone involved.

MUTV March Uptime Report

March delivered one of Mysteries Unlimited TV's strongest technical months to date, with uptime performance showing clear improvement over February’s numbers. 

When compared against the 744 hours available in March, MUTV achieved an estimated 90% effective uptime, marking a solid improvement over February’s 80% performance. Thanks to everyone who tunes in and supports the stream.

*On Amazon (US), our overall watch minutes were up when compared to the previous month. This month, there were over 41 total watch hours. The overall watch time on Amazon is down from previous years, but no doubt it is due to the growth of free-to-watch services. So, the watch hours are holding fairly steady on Amazon. Amazon changed their Slate (self-publishing Platform) and, at this time, they are not accepting new account setups in the U.S., the UK, Germany & Austria, or Japan. Amazon is an important service for all filmmakers. Zombie Media will continue to present titles to Amazon to help ensure the success of filmmakers. In fact, we reach Amazon services and territories that were never available through Slate.

Mysteries Unlimited TV - This 24/7 live channel is a project of Zombie Media. We are proud to announce that some of our clients received payouts from the service for the month of March. Our hope is to continue to grow the channel, and that payouts will increase for everyone. MUTV officially launched in early November. We recently added over 50 hours of new content.

International Distribution of Films

March saw continued international expansion across Amazon Prime Video, with several titles rolling out into new English‑speaking regions. Paranormal Adventures: Haunted Voices went live in Ireland, while Bigfoot Witness: The Jason Morse Story secured placements in both Guernsey and the United Kingdom. These steady additions across the UK/Ireland corridor signal ongoing momentum for the catalog and broaden the reach of multiple series at once.

Here’s a look at our February numbers. We did see another slight uptick from January, which is a positive shift after several months of instability in the market. While overall revenue remains lower than in previous years, this improvement shows that conditions may be beginning to stabilize.

MUTV stayed live for 536 hours in February,  that’s right at 80% uptime for the entire month!

Changes at Tubi (read here) have affected everyone across the industry, and the shift toward prioritizing series over individual creators and distributors has been one of the most challenging adjustments.

We’re working to offset these losses through expanded marketing efforts and several new ventures already underway. Our push into YouTube and direct partnerships is showing early signs of promise, and we expect these avenues to continue growing as we refine and expand them.

We also believe additional streaming services will step up to fill the gap left by recent platform changes, creating new opportunities for filmmakers to regain lost revenue. In the meantime, we strongly encourage all filmmakers and authors to continue self‑promoting and building their own visibility; it remains one of the most effective tools in today’s landscape.

Changes From Tubi

There have been some recent changes and focus from Tubi that we need to address and update our clients about. 

Some of these changes have affected the income of ZMP and our clients. Many have seen a significant drop in revenue. We wanted to address what actually caused this and what our course of action is to help.

Tubi, which is owned by Fox, recently hired former Vimeo CEO Anjali Sud to be the CEO of Tubi. She had previously worked at Vimeo for nine years and took over as CEO of Tubi in Sept. of 2023. 

Anytime there is an installment of a new Chief Executive Officer there are often changes that take place. Here are some of the changes for Tubi that have resulted in a drop in revenue for a lot of clients. 

* There has been a shift in their algorithm towards series. The thought is that series are more engaging for viewers. So, this means movies are appearing less often and getting fewer views.

*  Tubi is focusing on promoting original content in their algorithm. Shows and Movies that are produced through their in-house production company. They are also promoting content licensed on a fixed-fee basis rather than revenue share. The fixed-fee model makes Tubi much more selective in what titles are selected to appear on the platform. This normally results in fewer independent films being selected for the service. They are still using the revenue-sharing model.

* In 2024, Tubi will be more selective on titles that fall into the revenue-sharing model. This means it will be a little harder to get films on the platform. 

* Tubi also has insisted that Producers/Directors DO NOT contact them directly and follow Marketing guidelines. They also stated they would remove licenses and ban producers that have not followed these guidelines. (You are not allowed to use Tubi logos in any paid marketing/ads. If these guidelines are not followed, Tubi may remove your title. There are other rules as well.)

These are the basic changes that are currently affecting revenue. Tubi has long been one of the best, if not the best, paying platforms for films. While these changes have resulted in an overall drop, they are still a good-paying platform. 

So what do we do now?

First, we will continue to diversify our revenue streams for our clients. We will continue to get films and series onto numerous streaming platforms. It is never a good idea to have all your eggs in one basket, and getting titles onto other services is a must. We already do this and will continue.

We will also continue to promote titles that are on Tubi, following guidelines of course, in an effort to gain views and viewers. After all, Tubi is still a solid performing and paying platform. 

We will increase the promotion of titles that are on other platforms. The Roku Channel is one of the top-paying platforms for our clients. We will be stepping up our promotion of their platform.

We will also be growing our lineup on our VOD in-house service, ZMPVOD. 

Other services are continuing to grow. One platform that we have seen an increase in revenue from is Xumo. There was a significant jump for Xumo after partnering with Spectrum to offer the Xumo Stream Box. The Xumo Stream Box is available to anyone and it works very similarly to a Roku or Firestick device. They also have the Xumo app on Google Play and Apple App Store.

So, while we may have seen a decline the overall outlook is good. The future of streaming is going to be free ad-based platforms, in our opinion, and we are in a good position to grow.

We recently became a distributor for Bilco Productions and the first wave of titles are now starting to land on streaming services. Our goal is to have the films reach a larger audience by placing them in as many outlets as we can.
