Distribution Changes & Our Path Forward

Distribution Changes & Our Path Forward

Important Update on Streaming Distribution

The streaming landscape has shifted dramatically over the past few months. Many major platforms and aggregators have introduced paid submission requirements or premium upgrade fees before they will consider placing films on top‑tier channels. This is a major departure from the previous “no upfront cost” model that filmmakers and distributors relied on.

Because of these, mostly industry‑wide changes, access to high‑earning channels has become more restricted, and this has contributed to a noticeable drop in revenue across the board, including for our catalog.

Higher‑tier platforms = Tubi, Pluto, Roku Channel, Freevee, Samsung TV Plus, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, YouTube Movies. (We still have some access to these without paying the fee, depending on the title and the channel’s current submission rules.)

Lower‑tier platforms = Plex (standard), Filmzie, Fawesome, niche genre channels, and smaller FAST networks. (These platforms remain more accessible and are generally more friendly to independent films.)

What This Means for Zombie Media

These changes are not a reflection of our films or our filmmakers; they are the result of new paywalls and policies being implemented across the industry. Instead of paying large fees blindly, we are taking a strategic, sustainable approach to protect our creators and our long‑term growth.

All current titles will continue to be distributed, maintained, and monitored as usual.

Nothing is being paused or abandoned.

We are also committed to protecting filmmakers from unnecessary costs. We will not ask anyone to pay for premium submissions unless the value is clear and the opportunity is genuinely worth the investment.

Every decision we make is focused on long‑term sustainability for both Zombie Media and the filmmakers we represent.

We’re building for the future, not just reacting to the moment.

Our Plan Moving Forward

To adapt to this new environment and continue building momentum, we are implementing a multi‑layered strategy:

1. Continue Submitting to Lower‑Tier Channels

These platforms still accept titles without upfront fees and remain a steady source of views and revenue. We will continue placing titles where they can earn without unnecessary financial risk.

2. Reach Out Directly to Top‑Tier Channels

We will pursue direct submissions and direct relationships with major platforms whenever possible. This allows us to bypass paywalls and maintain control over costs while still seeking higher‑value placements.

3. Expand Our VOD Presence — Starting With Our Own Platform

We are increasing our focus on our in‑house VOD platform, ZMPVOD.com, where we have full control over presentation, pricing, and revenue.

In addition, we will be exploring other VOD platforms that align with our goals and offer fair terms for independent creators.

4. Increase Promotion & Marketing

We will be putting more emphasis on promotion, trailers, social media pushes, targeted campaigns, and cross‑platform visibility to help drive traffic and income regardless of platform changes.

5. Utilize Our YouTube Channels More Aggressively

YouTube remains one of the most flexible and scalable platforms available. We will be expanding our YouTube strategy to generate additional revenue streams and increase visibility for our filmmakers.

6. Continue Growing MUTV as a Dedicated Revenue Source

MUTV (Mysteries Unlimited TV) remains one of our most flexible and creator‑friendly outlets. We will continue expanding MUTV with new content, improved scheduling, and broader promotion. As the platform grows, it will serve as an additional, reliable revenue stream for our filmmakers outside of traditional streaming channels.

Moving Forward Together

We are actively tracking industry changes and adjusting our strategy to keep our filmmakers competitive. Zombie Media has weathered industry shifts before, and we will continue adapting to ensure our filmmakers have every possible path to success.

We will continue to update our filmmakers as the industry evolves so everyone stays informed and prepared.

Thank You.
